Nestled in a Bloomfield, NJ neighborhood of modest Cape Cod style homes, this gem was ready for new life. We expanded out into the large backyard to deliver a sun filled kitchen and dining room with comfortable access to both the back patio, the driveway and the living room. Earthy, vintage, elegant and inviting at the same time, the main level is now the picture of perfection for a young couple and their pup.
High end marble tiles in a large mosaic pattern were the inspiration for the entire space. Warm wood and botanical green balances the black that frames the space. Wide expanses of window let in the light and create a perfect banquette dining area for morning coffee and soirees alike. The gorgeous etched glass globe pendants are knockouts visible from every angle. Honed granite is timeless, natural and durable, sure to last a lifetime.
We were able to get creative by adding a second entryway into the living room that intersects with a brand new closet and custom coat bench that blends seamlessly with the new design. A beloved hutch was considered, and found its place on a wall of botanical paper that ties all of the colors together.
The banquette dining area seats 6 with room to expand. Custom woven window treatments control the level of light, heat and privacy. Not easy to see in photos is the pale blue gray ceiling of the kitchen and dining area that softens the overall palette without overpowering the space with traditional flat white. It’s a detail we attend to frequently, carefully selecting ceiling colors.
The living room was color saturated from ceiling to trim in a rich beige. You can see the additional doorway and the statement lighting along with beautiful tones of ochre, caramel, blue-grey, cream and green. A few pops of black string the spaces together.
Never to be neglected, the facade got a refresh! We suggested added cedar shingle details in just the right designs to add personality and introduce the elegance within.
