The opportunity arose for this Pompton Plains, NJ couple to renovate their whole primary suite and update their entryway. We went to work melding his love of natural materials and lodge living with her desire for understated glamour and bold color. Rearranging the space and adding a window allowed for a more symmetrical bedroom space, added natural light, room for an extra large his and hers closet, and an open airy bathroom worthy of a luxurious, natural spa retreat.
The terrazzo floor is an elevated nod to river rocks while the neutral wood vanity brings in a rustic timber element. Hand glazed white tiles have a gorgeous texture and sheen, while pale blue walls feel like wide open sky. They chose more counter space over double sinks, and a separate linen closet provides ample storage.
Slate blue envelopes the space, with vibrant art in additional autumnal and turquoise tones. Burl wood side tables, artwork, pillows and chunky woven textures bring the warmth.
What used to feel cold and unwelcoming became a statement entrance! A seating area by a large window to the front offers a comfortable spot to put on shoes or have a morning coffee. With paint, drapery, some accent lighting and a few pieces of furniture, the whole home has a new introduction.
