The adventurous spirit and total trust from this marvelous Montclair, NJ client led to something truly special. We took nothing away from this vivacious Victorian, but added character and collected pieces from across the eras, while honoring the history of the home. Wallpaper was used to draw the eye up and around the foyer to better take in the stunning staircase. Deep navy walls amplify the bright and bold trim, patterns and lighting.
Flashes of vibrant satin brass shimmer in the mirror and chandelier against the deep walls and fresh patterns of paper. We gave new life to an old chest of drawers with custom paint and wax, and cleaned up hardware. Souvenirs from travels abroad have a place of honor, and start to tell the story of this incredible space.
The living room was sectioned into a gathering lounge and a reflective reading nook. Beloved mid century lines and modern art mingle with global textures and patterns, luscious fabrics and collected antiques. The modern art pieces soar in their specific spots, sparking conversation.
One of the crowning achievements here was ensuring that each magical piece was featured without upstaging the others.
We reupholstered this Italian Mid Century Gio Ponti settee, and sat it like a throne in it’s place of honor. A stunning antique Chinese cabinet is also a focal point, inspiring our strategic styling with red elements throughout the space. The roller shades are reminiscent of snakeskin, and were a perfectly unique contemporary touch.
