I got a little crazy last month. I think the insane wallpaper was too much for you guys. I get it.
Worry not. This month we have a soothing, easy, eclectic, vintage vibe inspired by the incomparable Emily Henderson! I’ve been a fan of her aesthetic for years. Her style is unapologetically personal and evolving, and she is always successful in creating spaces that ooze charm and life without meeting traditional expectations. So...you need a little bit of her vibe in your life.
It’s hard to pick a favorite aspect of this room. Actually....I think it’s the antique map. I found so many great options in multiple sizes. But, of course, I’m going to represent my current home state of New Jersey! If you’re going for this look, oversize is key. I think the 30”x40” is perfect to get our look. If you have the ceiling height and wall space...that 36”x48” is pretty amazing.
What really makes this map the feature is the blue wall behind it. I love Benjamin Moore's "Gentleman's Gray."
It's a deep blue with the tiniest hint of teal when the sun hits it. It morphs in light and dark, but always reads as a rich blue. The white and wood tones throughout the design play super nicely with it. The glass touches add some glitter and shine and reflect different hues in the blue. So so pretty.
Anchoring the space, and adding the vibrant pop of white, is our spectacular oval table. There is so much style circling this piece! It screams swanky 60's adding just the right amount of pizaz and "modern" opposition to the vintage map. This is our splurge item yet still affordable as size-able dining tables go.
Dangling above our mod table, is an actual Art Deco era pendant. It is simple, elegant and totally unexpected. We found the exact model as our Stellar Look at Rejuvenation for a reasonable $650. BUT we found a smaller version with the same glamour for a few hundred less! $340 at Rejuvenation for a true vintage piece from the 1930’s!
The chairs. The chairs!!!! Who would’ve thunk to mix French bistro chairs with white mid century modern chairs??? Emily Henderson would!! I like to think that I would, too!! That’s why I love her style. If something looks amazing as a piece of the puzzle, and if it functions in line and color and purpose...DO IT! Do not let conventional design theory limit you.
We found a pretty amazing alternative to pricey bistro chairs, guys. They are SO affordable and so spot on with our look!
Throw a sweep of a blue and white stripes under the table and chairs, and you’ve got the base of your space. There are really so many rugs you could choose. Look for something in a natural or indoor/outdoor weave. It’s a dining space after all! Look for predominantly white or light neutral tones with striping with or without a print. We like the look and price of this rug
Taking cues from our muse, we found a super cool option for all your bar and beverage entertaining needs at a fabulous price point. A little mid century, a splash of warm wood, and a mirrored bar back! My good friends know how I love a mirrored bar back. It sounds like a splurge, but trust us...this is a great price at $650. This kind of bar cabinet usually starts at $1,000! It’s not only practical and timeless in it’s “cool” factor, but it’s a conversation piece. It's design and decor in one.
We can make up for some big spending with our accessories! So, let’s dress her up.
H&M has worked their magic, and made most of our finishing touches suddenly appear...though we barely opened our wallets. This golden tray adds a glint of glam and a central focal point to highlight all of our pretty little trinkets.
So...Line up, trinkets!
Vases in black and white ceramic plus a bit of glass add tons of character without overpowering the palette or the scale. And every table should have at least one vessel for blooms! But, WE have 3 vessels! And a cute little decorative bowl.
Stock that bar cabinet with these perfect bubble glassware pieces that H&M has decided to basically give away. And do a little diggin once you’re on the H&M site, because they have an awesome affordable selection of beauties to fill your cabinet...and your home design heart.
And to literally top it all off...this tall drink of water sits on top of the cabinet, just to the right of our art print.
And what a lovely print she is! A photo aptly named after the adventure it depicts. The deep earthy colors with a bit of emerald green in their bright white frame stand out against our deep blue backdrop, and add a wealth of style to our space at a tiny cost.
This entire Stellar Steal room is under $2,600, GUYS!!!!...not including alcohol and/or snacks. Surely, you can gather those (along with your favorite friends and family) and throw some spectacular soirees or boozy brunches in this gorgeous space.
