Here at Beam&Bloom, we specialize in making Home Design affordable, attainable, functional and inspiring...so, we’ve decided to provide a monthly copy-cat post with a Designer Space that we LOVE...but, alas, cannot all afford. We find direct links to products that will give you the look for much, much...much less. It might require some “homework” and furniture assembly...but, for those of us with the dreams and not the dollars...we’ve got this.

The bitter January cold here in NJ has us dreaming of a comfy chair and a cozy space with deep colors and a roaring fireplace. You?
When we came across this whimsically elegant room, it spoke our winter love language. Bold prints that meld into eachother with a comforting ease in a play on a Victorian English study. Designers Jesse Carrier and Mara Miller created this space for Actress Jessica Chastain’s NY flat, and now we have stolen it for a tiny, tiny fraction of the cost.
Yes. We found you a FIREPLACE, People!!! Home Depot sells various sizes and styles of electric or fuel burning fireplaces for those of us without actual fire vessels and chimneys. We picked a rather fancy one as our splurgiest item for $599 (because it so suits the style)...but there are plenty of other options for less than $200, so browse the link!
Feeling warm already?
The most dynamic element (post fireplace) is the wallpaper. We found a peel and stick/removeable style from our friends at Burke Decor. It’s a deep navy blue with beautifully busy branches.
Breaking up the major patterns is this thick framed, round, black mirror is one of the surprisingly modern elements in the space. We found a killer deal on this 31 inch diameter piece! It’s strength is it’s simplicity.
One of our favorite things in this room is the chair. A French style armchair with wood trim and upholstery is hard to find for a great price! But, we did it. The blue is more of a match to our walls than a contrast, but we love the look.
Our second favorite thing in this room is the rug. So many beautiful and rich colors come together in a modern tribal print for a totally engaging and timeless feel. If all you get from this post is the chair and the rug...you did it right! They are a power couple.
Up the cushy comfort factor and the fun with some funky patterned and textured pillows piled on your pretty new chair.
The garden stool adds another layer of red with more of a wine flavor. It’s elegant and utilitarian and a bit unexpected.
Another super modern touch is this sweet little print from Target! Propped up on the mantle, it adds a key focal point in the space. In general, this is one of my favorite affordable pieces of wall art, and the price point is unbeatable.
We mimicked the elegance of the marble obelisk and vases from the inspiration space with some close copies. Our obelisk is crystal, and by a company called Badash (which sounds like Badass...so that’s neat.) Ya’ll would be surprised how expensive decorative obelisks are. But, this one gives a little flash to our mantle. The faux marble vase is a sweet little bit of black to compliment our mirror and tie in the simple white ceramic vase behind it.
The faux marble ceramic vases come in a set of three for an awesome price. Scatter them around the house, or use them as a grouping on your mantle if you’re not into obelisks. The White/Gray vase rounds out our mantle styling, comes in various sizes, and would look fantastic on any table or mantle.
Put it all together, Et VOILA! You have a super eclectic, vibrant, warm and comforting space with classic Victorian roots. All that’s left is to grab a brandy...or an herbal tea...and bask in the warmth and the glory of your new space!
